NEW PAPER: "The relationship between personality traits (16PF) and marital adjustment in women"

The present study investigated the simple and multiple relationship between personality traits (16PF) and marital adjustment among women who referred to the counseling centers in Shahreza city (Iran) in 2013.
The sample in this study was 100 women referring to the counseling centers in 2013 that was  selected by  convenience  sampling.  Assessment  instruments  were  Cattell  Personality Inventory (16PF) and Dyadic Adjustment Scale  (DAS).
Study employed correlation method and the research hypothesis were analyzed using regression, correlation coefficient and t-test.
The results showed  that  with  the  exception  of  temerity,  fantasy,  empiricism,  privacy  and  self-sufficiency, other factors are predictors of marital adjustment.

Theory and research suggest that people personality traits are associated with marital satisfaction and adjustment. ... Similarity  hypothesis  states  that spouses  which  are  more similar to each other in  personality,  more  likely  have  a  satisfying  and  lasting relationships.

I strongly agree with the paper.


Similarity is a word that has different meanings for different persons or companies, it exactly depends on how mathematically is defined. I calculate similarity in personality patterns with (a proprietary) pattern recognition by correlation method. It takes into account the score and the trend to score of any pattern. Also it takes into account women under hormonal treatment because several studies showed contraceptive pills users make different mate choices, on average, compared to non-users. "Only short-term but not long-term partner preferences tend to vary with the menstrual cycle".
