some screenshots POF spanish version

The Spanish version is really bad, a mess, all the site is like if it was patched several times.
Some texts are really Tarzanic translations from English.
Other pages have text in Spanish mixed with English.

Bebo founders, shareholders sue owner for destroying site

Bebo founders, shareholders sue owner for destroying site

Remember AOL bought Bebo in 2008 for a stratospheric USD850 million.

This will be a case of study, the same could happen with some online dating sites.

Jazzed, launched August 2010.

Jazzed, launched August 2010.
the failed free social dating site from eHarmony

It is entirely free
It is social
It is intended to search
but failed

Some time ago, January 2009, the IAC (Match/Chemistry) had launched and closed a free dating site named DownToEarth (then rebranded to STiR and closed).
The owners of the free online dating site PlentyOfFish had launched by September 2010 a paid site called eVow and failed.

Is there a curse in the online dating industry?
free sites can not launch paid sites and success.
paid sites can not launch free sites and success.

Is it a coincidence that just the most popular post on this blog is?. guess "Jazzed (eHarmony) & eVow (PlentyOfFish)"

new proposal, soon

I had reviewed over 55 compatibility matching engines intended for serious dating since 2003, when I had discovered "the online dating sound barrier" problem.

Breaking "the online dating sound barrier" is to achieve at least:
3 most compatible persons in a 100,000 persons database.
12 most compatible persons in a 1,000,000 persons database.
48 most compatible persons in a 10,000,000 persons database.
100 times better than Compatibility Matching Algorithms used by actual online dating sites!

The only way to achieve that is:
- using the 16PF5 normative personality test, available in different languages to assess personality of members, or a proprietary test with exactly the same traits of the 16PF5.
The ensemble of the 16PF5 is: 10E16, big number as All World Population is nearly 7.0 * 10E9
- expressing compatibility with eight decimals, like The pattern 6.7.6.8.9.6.7.7.8.7.2.5.8.7.3.4 is 92.55033557% +/- 0.00000001% similar to the pattern 7.7.6.8.8.7.6.5.8.7.4.5.7.7.3.4
Using a quantized pattern comparison method (part of pattern recognition by cross-correlation) to calculate similarity between prospective mates.

That is the only way to revolutionize the Online Dating Industry.

All other proposals are .............. NOISE

Stupid investors' series: today TheCompleteMe

Social dating is illusory/vaporware for serious daters looking for a long term relationship with commitment.

Thecompleteme is an online social dating company founded by a former VP Match who is not an entrepreneur; he is only a "marketinero", a smoke seller, but he can not innovate in nothing. It is not going to revolutionize the Online Dating Industry.

My bet: they are going to make some noise, peak and decay when they run out of money.

There is a plethora of Social Dating sites like Badoo; HowAboutWe, Zoosk in decadence since months, others failed like SmartDate, Zingl, Engage (then rebranded to Ignighter group dating), Thread, Triangulate, Gelato (then rebranded to Twnty), WooMe, 12Like, LittleHint.

Online Dating for serious daters does not need to be more social, it needs to be more effective/efficient. It needs to reduce the false positives problem.

The Online Dating Industry needs innovations but they will come from only one source: the latest discoveries in theories of romantic relationships development with commitment.
Compatibility is all about a high level on personality* similarity* between prospective mates for long term mating with commitment.
*personality measured with a normative test.
*similarity: there are different ways to calculate similarity, it depends on how mathematically is defined.

paper: "AUTOMATED PERSONALITY CLASSIFICATION"

PAPER "AUTOMATED PERSONALITY CLASSIFICATION"
"Abstract – In this paper we give a description of the problem of the automated personality classification (APC) and the presentation of the existing solutions to
this problem. As a scientific contribution, we present a classification of the existing solutions to the problem of the APC. We also expose several ideas for development of new solutions to this problem and for improvement of the existing ones. Future directions for solving the problem of the APC in the context of social networks are also discussed."

"In [32] (paper 'Personality based latent friendship mining')  proposed a method that solves the problem finding compatible friends among bloggers (Figure 3). Unlike previous approaches to solving this problem where it was assumed that compatible bloggers write about related subjects, the authors here using the hypothesis that bloggers are compatible with similar personality characteristics."

"4) IDEAS FOR FUTURE WORK
In this section we present some ideas for improving AKL.
For clarity, the ideas are categorized as follows way: A) new types of Corps B) new ways of measuring personality traits, C) a new method for classifying and D) Dynamic AKL (automated classification of personality)."

Personality Based Recommender Systems are the next generation of recommender systems because they perform FAR better than Behavioural ones (past actions and pattern of personal preferences)
That is the only way to improve recommender systems, to include the personality traits of their users.
Have you seen they need to calculate personality similarity between users?
Have you seen there are different formulas to calculate similarity?
In case you did not notice, recommender systems are morphing to .......... compatibility matching engines!!!
They mostly use the Big5 to assess personality and the Pearson correlation coefficient to calculate similarity.

LIFEPROJECT METHOD is also suitable for personality based recommender systems because it uses the 16PF5 normative personality test, available in different languages to assess personality of members, or a proprietary test with exactly the same traits of the 16PF5. The ensemble of the 16PF5 is: 10E16, big number as All World Population is nearly 7.0 * 10E9 (estimated OCT 2011)
and
calculates similarity between persons with a quantized pattern comparison method (part of pattern recognition by cross-correlation). It takes into account the score and the trend to score of any pattern.

LIFEPROJECT METHOD is like the Teller Ulam design for recommender systems and the Online Dating Industry.

paper "Explaining the user experience of recommender systems"

I had read the paper "Explaining the user experience of recommender systems" and I think it is unnecessarily complicated.

Because Personality Based Recommender Systems are the next generation of recommender systems because they perform FAR better than Behavioural ones (past actions and pattern of personal preferences)
That is the only way to improve recommender systems, to include the personality traits of their users.
Have you seen they need to calculate personality similarity between users?

Meetic 10 years!

Meetic 10 years, old and obsolete site.
10 years scamming members with automatic rebilling and other credit cards trickery.

featured in OPW

This April Fools Day I was featured at OPW, but I think every day is a Fools Day for daters.

The entire Online Dating Industry for serious daters in 1st World Countries is a HOAX, performing as a Big Online Casino, with a low effectiveness/efficiency level of their matching algorithms (less than 10%).
